Psst…Want a Job? I Got Lots

Wisconsin is dealing with record-low unemployment rates, tons of non-farming jobs and an overflowing labor pool. And yet employers in the state are struggling to fill thousands of jobs.

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Wisconsin’s Open Jobs:

  1. 📈Big Numbers - There are currently 200,000 open jobs in the state. That’s an actual, real life number.
  2. 🟰Shocking Equation - The situation is so crazy that if every unemployed person worked in the right industry, there would still be 112,000 job openings. That is also an actual, real life number.
  3. 📊If Man Is Five - Wisconsin’s labor force participation is ranked sixth in the country. People are working, regardless of what some people would have you believe.
  4. 💸Buyer’s Market - Employers are stepping up, too. The average hourly wage is up from $27.36 before the pandemic to $29.72 in August.
  5. 🧮Zero Sum - Experts point to workers aging out, people leaving the state, and a lack of people moving to the state to replace them. They’re also pointing to a skill mismatch where available workers don’t have the right skill or education for a position.

🔥Bottom line: If you’re eligible for an open job, you can use that to your advantage. After all, if  a company wants you badly enough, there’s no telling what you can negotiate for, including higher pay and remote work!
