Millions are saying "take this job and shove it!"
It’s not just Simone Biles who needs some time off…
U.S. workers are leaving their jobs at the highest rate in 20 years! The Bureau of Labor reports that 3.6 million people quit their jobs in May, 940,000 people quit their jobs in June, and between 25-40% of currently employed workers are searching for a new job!
Here’s Five Fast Facts on WHY this is happening and what smart Paychecks can do about it:
💁♂️🆕Shift Happens! - Some say it's the extra cash from stimmy checks/Unemployment payments, others say it was the time off during the lockdowns that allowed people to reassess their work/life balance and look for something that’s better for their mental health. Whatever the case may be: millions are seeking greener pastures.
✊🤑Power to the People!!!! - Many are cheering for the millions quitting jobs because they say it forces companies to offer better pay and incentives (like tuition payments, signing bonuses, special treats...y’know all the goodies 😉)
😓⚰️Not everyone is winning - At least 6.2 million people aren’t working at all (or worked less hours) because their workplace permanently shrunk due to the pandemic. Other companies that survived 2020 aren’t able to offer pay raises and people are leaving...
🤔🤷🏻♂️You might want to think twice about quitting - Certain jobs like trucking, warehouse workers, and medical workers might be boomin’ but the average pay nationwide is actually at a lower rate than before the pandemic. So, be careful!
🏃💨Now could be a good time to step out - If you choose to join the Great Resignation remember that 60% of the open jobs right now pay less than $18/hr. That means you should weigh the benefits of any new job (working from home, time with your children, happiness) in addition to securing that bag of cash!💰Don't settle for less!
