To Jab, or Not to Jab, That is the Question:

You’ve likely heard how President Biden made a big announcement last week saying that every business with more than 100 employees will be mandated to require workers to get the jab. Some think this is a necessary step to beat COVID while others are calling it unconstitutional and wrong.

We’ll leave that for you to decide...

What we want to talk about is how your vaccination status could impact your Paycheck. So, here’s Five Fast Facts:

👨💼💼 Less job opportunities for the unvaxxed: About 20% of employers already had some kinda vax mandate, while other companies are willing to fire workers if they refuse the Rona vax. It looks like there will be fewer and fewer places that accept folks who don’t want (or can’t take) the jab.

📈👩⚕️Health insurance costs for the un-poked are increasing: Some insurance providers may start charging more to cover unvaccinated people. Other companies are forcing employees to pay an extra $200 per month for a company-provided plan if they can’t get the vaccine.

🤑🤷♂️Getting the vax could boost your career: With a growing number of employers requiring that (at least in-person) workers be vaxxed, getting the jab could lead to more opportunities. The fact of the matter is that more time rubbing elbows with your boss could mean a higher likelihood of getting promoted. Say “hi” to higher paychecks...

💳😧Increased out-of-pocket expenses: Covid is becoming more “high stakes” as healthcare providers are beginning to make insured people pay for COVID-related medications and treatments that used to be free. The average bill for a COVID hospital stay ranges between $22,500 and $45,000. So, let's hope you have a low deductible or you can beat The Rona with only a walk in visit to your GP!

🧪💸All those COVID tests aren’t free: Lot’s of us (both vaxxed and unvaxxed) are getting used to hearing SOMEONE ask for our negative COVID tests. Well, even if you do stay healthy, many workplaces and schools require people to get regular COVID tests, which you could have to pay for out-of-pocket. Those tests can end up costing anywhere from $20 to several hundred dollars!

📞📧Bottom line: Vaccinations, mandates, and restrictions are a big deal: your paycheck might hang in the balance. So, don’t just read this newsletter and argue online! Email or, better yet, call your local lawmaker and let them know what you think about Biden’s plan, vaccine mandates, and any rules in your local community!
