Are People Getting Hired Faster?

The good thing about being unemployed? All the time in the world to play video games and snack on a fresh can of Pringles. 🎮 The bad news? No cash to pay for a Pringles refill…or your subscription to the Playstation Store. 🥴

The job search can really suck an egg. While the job market itself is still pretty poopy, there is a silver lining. 🌅 According to new data, the hiring process is taking less time.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on today’s hiring process trends:

  1. 🤠 Speedy Gonzales - ZipRecruiter just dropped the results of a new survey, and according to the results, people are landing jobs quicker. Almost half (49%) of recent hires said they landed a role within a month of searching. That’s up from last year’s 39%.
  1. 📄 Less Is More - The “spray and pray” method of sending resumes out into the void is becoming less popular. The survey showed candidates sent a median of 24 applications before getting an offer, a drop from 30 last quarter. Also, 52% reported hearing back from a hiring manager within three days, up a bit from 45%.
  1. 😴 Keep Dreamin’ - Sure, everyone would love to get their dream job, but folks are now more realistic. Those who reported landing their dream gig was down from the previous survey. However, 91% of new hires say they’re satisfied with the job they ultimately took.
  1. 💼 One on One - Because the market is iffy, a lot of people are holding onto their jobs instead of jumping ship. Back in 2022, there were two jobs for every candidate on the hunt. Today, it’s a one-to-one ratio.
  1. 🩺 Health Check - Which industry has the most job options for those on the hunt? Healthcare, especially in the public sector. Because of shake ups happening at the federal level, there’s been a significant increase in open public administration jobs.

🔥Bottom line: We know you’re sooooo close to beating Elden Ring, but make sure to take a break and apply to some jobs, king. The best boss battles always happen in the break room.
