Boost Your Savings with This Simple Challenge

Calling all Double Dare fans: what was your favorite game on the show? Was it digging through the giant nose for a flag?👃🚩 Maybe it was when the contestants wore huge pants and tried to catch pies in them? 🥧 We’ll take the physical challenge, Marc.

Double Dare might be a distant memory, but today’s savings challenges are alive and well. If you’ve got five bucks to spare, keep reading! 🤑

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the $5 challenge:

  1. 😎 I Got 5 On It - The thought of beefing up an emergency fund can feel overwhelming AF. That doesn’t mean you can’t start small! Through the $5 challenge, you’ll simply set aside every $5 bill you get instead of spending it. Think: change back from the grocery store or a B-day card from gramps.
  1. 🙌 Easy Peasy - The best part? It’s so simple. Get $5, sock it away. No spreadsheets or apps needed. AND you make your own rules depending on your goals. Need cash to spend on holiday gifts? Do it for a month. Want to splurge on a trip? Do it for a year (or two).
  1. 💵 Simple Plan - Another pro: it’s a way to save without making any big lifestyle changes. Well, except maybe not buying that extra energy drink. If you’re someone who handles cash on the regular, you can easily put away hundreds of dollars a year without too much effort.
  1. 🐄 Cash Cow - Now for some cons. This works best for folks to deal mostly in cash. If you don’t see $5 bills regularly, you might not save that much. Also, if you’re saving cash, it’s not making any money off interest like it would in a high-yield account.
  2. 🤖 Digital Detour - More of a Debit Card Diva than a Cash Queen? You can still play! Instead of stashing $5 bills, try rounding up purchases to the nearest $5 or $10 and save what you’d get in change. Some banks have programs that do this automatically for you!

🔥Bottom line: Who doesn’t love a good challenge? Especially when the end result is more savings for a rainy day (or some fun in the sun). Looking for more savings challenges?
