Bots N’ Budgets: More Americans Tap AI for Financial Help

Oh, you asked ChatGPT to help you find new sources of income? We asked our spirit guides and consulted our crystal ball. 🔮 They told us the answer is within. We don’t know what that means, but it sure ain’t paying the bills. 😠

With more and more peeps turning to AI for answers, Americans are using the bots to help out with their budgets. 🤖💵 Before you start a fresh chat, take a gander at this guide!

Here’s Five Fast Facts on AI and personal finance:

  1. 🗣️ Chatty Cathy - AI has quickly become part of everyday life. People use it for recipes, exercise plans, and now for burning money questions. In fact, nearly half of Americans have turned to AI for financial help and about half say they trust it to give advice.
  1. 👩🏻‍💻 Tech Talk - Even if you’ve never typed a question into ChatGPT, AI is probably already involved in your financial life. Banks rely on it for fraud alerts, credit scoring, and account security. Now those tools are becoming more hands-on, letting people use AI directly to plan budgets and set financial goals.
  1. 🔐 Privacy, Please - AI serves up smarter advice the more you tell it, but that comes with tradeoffs. One recent study found consumers are concerned about privacy and over-reliance on tech. Those fears aren’t random: another report showed 13% of organizations had AI-related security breaches and 8% didn’t know if they’d been hacked at all.
  1. 🦾 Custom Fit - Using AI can be helpful, especially when professional advice isn’t affordable. Just make sure you know how your data is being handled by reading the privacy policy and adjusting your settings. In many cases, you can choose whether your chats are saved or used to shape future responses.
  1. 🤐 Close to the Vest - Hot take: AI’s not your bestie, so don’t feed it your personal info. Avoid including sensitive details like your full name or birth date. And while AI can help you compare options, it should never replace your human judgment when making big financial decisions.

🔥Bottom line: As AI continues to flip the script on life as we know it, we’ll keep the pulse on how it’s impacting paychecks. As for marrying your AI companion, we’ll leave that up to someone else to report on. Speaking of living alone (LOL), doing so is getting more expensive by the day.
