Broadband Gets Broader In Nebraska

🐌🌐Getting online in a lot of parts of Nebraska can be aaaaaa veeeeeeeeryyyyyy sllllloooooowwww prrrrroooooceeeeeeesssssssss!

It’s not always broadband, and even when it is it’s not necessarily all that broad. Fortunately, help is on the way!

Here are Five Fast Facts on Nebraska’s soon-to-be-speedier broadband situation:

  1. 💰What’s Coming Our Way? State officials are expecting to download a nice pile of cash from the feds. They’ll use it to expand high speed broadband Internet access around the state. Good news - more memes and Tik Tok videos on the way!
  2. 🏘️🐢What’s The Big Deal? When making the announcement, Gov. Ricketts said that as of early 2021 around 80k households didn’t have Internet speeds fast enough to be called “broadband.” Another 150k have broadband that barely qualifies. It’s a tragedy, to be sure, when you consider how much schooling, banking, and shopping we need to do online!
  3. 📝Where’s It Coming From? The single biggest chunk of cash comes from almost $90 million specifically to improve broadband Internet access to thousands of homes and businesses. This was part of the ARPA passed last year.
  4. 💰💰But Wait, There’s More! Ricketts said over $107 million is coming from a couple other federal programs to help Internet Service Providers and public power districts, and there’s potential for even more based on area needs.
  5. 🌐👨‍💻What’s It For? All of this money will help establish more connections around the state, and educate the public on how they can get better Internet for their homes and businesses. You can find out more at:  broadband.nebraska.gov

🔥Bottom line: With infrastructure projects like this on the way, there are sure to be more good Paychecks coming, too! And, with better broadband all around the state, pretty much every other job (at least all of the ones that go online) will get easier and faster, too. That’s a download we are really looking foooorrrrwaaaaaard toooooo…
