Guess which state that starts with a “W” and ends in “sin” allocated more pandemic relief money to the economy than any other state? The details are really impressive!
Here’s Five Fast Facts on ARPA Economic Spending:
- 📄 We’re #1- A new report shows that 56% (that’s $1.1B!!!) of our ARPA funds were spent to help keep the economy healthy during the pandemic. The next closest state only allocated 38%. Losers.
- 🏦 Nook and Cranny - Every county in the state received grants from the state for economic development, helping most small businesses survive and thrive.
- 📈 Smart Focus - The bulk of that $1.1B went to things like general economic development, business assistance, and workforce development.
- 💵 Boooooing - The investments were a success. The Main Street Bounceback Program and Workforce Innovation Grant Programs both helped keep local businesses open, and profitable.
- 💥 Buckle Up - The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp said all of these economic developments should also help Wisconsin businesses in the event of a recession. And boy, oh boy, a good chunk of them expect one to hit.
🔥Bottom line: We’ve been banging the drum around here for a while about our record low unemployment and it’s a good bet that these investments had more than a little something to do with them. It’s good to see the government helping out the little guy for once, rather than bailing out big business.
