Challenge Accepted! Ohio Gets $23.5M 'Good Jobs Challenge' Grant

Good job! No really, that's a good job you got there, my skilled-labor friend. 🧑🏻‍🔧

Ohio just got a truckload of new funding to boost workforce partnerships that lead to well-paying jobs. 🛠️ The grant is part of the Good Jobs Challenge. They're focusing on giving folks the skills they need to find gigs in economy-boosting, in-demand industries.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the new grant:

  1. 💵 Funding Frenzy - The State of Ohio and the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) have been awarded a three-year federal grant of over $23 million. The grant is part of a $500 million nationwide Good Jobs Challenge program.
  2. 🧰 Mad Skillz - The Good Jobs Challenge grant will focus on upskilling Ohioans for jobs in the manufacturing industry.
  3. 🔥 Hot Jobs - Some of the most in-demand jobs are in machining, production, welding, industrial maintenance, and automation and robotics. Experts say these areas will have 150,000 job openings in the next three years in Ohio.
  4. ✅ Goal Getter - One of the OMA's goals is to get 6,000 participants statewide into one or more training programs that lead to a job offer or upskilling opportunity at their current job.
  5. 📡 Strong Signals - Wireless technology and 5G are expected to create over 100K jobs in Ohio over the next 10 years.

🔥Bottom line: We LOVE to see Ohio getting the funds needed to boost skilled labor jobs. And we love that officials seem to be making a long-term investment! Could it be that the big wigs in charge are finally making a dent in bringing the country's manufacturing back to life? We'll just have to wait and see!
