Corn Isn’t All That Grows In Nebraska!

One of the best career paths right now is clean energy jobs. Here in Nebraska, we have a small but mighty (and growing) clean energy sector, and it’s only getting better through local educational programs.

Here are Five Fast Facts about Nebraska’s clean energy jobs and education:

  1. 📈The Big Picture - In 2021, nationwide energy sector jobs grew 40% faster than overall job growth, to almost 8 million. That ain’t no hot air!
  2. 😟Here At Home - Clean energy resonates here - 60% of Nebraskans are concerned about climate change, and 50% want their elected leaders to do something about it. And what the people want, the people get...one way or another.
  3. 🎓Stepping Up - Local colleges, like Central Community College of Nebraska, are working hard to prepare students to grab those clean energy jobs through hands-on experience in one-year certificate programs or two-year associate degrees in energy technology. Not a high hurdle to jump for an industry that is hotter than the Nebraska sunlight right now!
  4. 🌬️☀️Does It Work? Yes! All of the CCC students who have graduated from the program have landed jobs in either wind or solar energy jobs. We do have a lot of wind here, so we might as well use it!
  5. 🤑Are They Worth It? We think so since they’re good paying jobs. Last year, wind techs had a median annual salary of over $52k per year! Energy jobs in general have an average of almost $70k (depending on where you live)! Not too shabby for one or two years of education!

🔥Bottom line: This is a great example of how Nebraska continues to lead the way into the future. Setting up local programs to train local folks in up-and-coming industries to get them big Paychecks is exactly the kind of sunshine we’d like to shine on us all day!
