CVS isn’t about burgers, but it does want you to get in and out! They created a new team last year to tackle this very problem, and to have a much better shopping experience while you do it. So what’s going on with this, and what should you expect? Let’s check it out!
Here are Five Fast Facts on CVS’ new app and experience:
- 👀 How We Got Here - Rising prices on drugs (and everything else) plus less foot traffic have forced CVS to cut costs in recent years. That resulted in staffing shortages and longer lines. And more cranky customers, naturally.
- 📱 One App To Rule Them All - CVS is piloting a new app that includes connections with Aetna and Caremark (they own both companies). It’ll give you end-to-end transparency on costs, coverages, and other health benefits in one place. So now there are no surprises when you show up at the CVS counter. Theoretically.
- ✨ Barcode Magic - Say goodbye to waiting in lines to get your prescriptions! With the new app’s barcode system, you can scan, pay, and get on your way, all without having to make awkward small talk with the cashier.
- 👍 Tell Me Now - “I love showing up to get my prescription and finding out it’s not ready yet” said no one ever. So, another function of the new app is a real-time status on your prescriptions and pricing. Want to know? Boom, now you do!
- 📂 Open Sesame - Another new system CVS is piloting with the app is a set of pickup cabinets that you can unlock with your phone. You can order ahead, then when you arrive you just walk up to the cabinet, fire up the app, say the magic words, and your cabinet pops open so you can grab your stuff. Okay, fine, you don’t have to say any magic words, but it’s more fun if you do!
🔥Bottom line: CVS is hoping that this new app and its accompanying experience will make it a breeze to shop at their stores. It’s like a multitasking superpower, working for you!
Will this change how often you shop at CVS?
