Do Companies with Remote Workers Save Big Bucks?

Ah, the "work from home" life. It's the envy of office-dwelling cube nerds everywhere, and rightfully so. 🧑‍💻 Where else can you sit through a meeting with no pants on?!

Note: make sure your laptop camera is properly adjusted. 😆👖

But remote workers aren't the only comfy, cozy ones. Research shows that companies are benefiting big time from hiring remote staff, especially when it comes to budgets and the bottom line. 💰📈

Here’s Five Fast Facts about how remote work in the US:

  1. 🔊 You're On Mute - Wage rates in the US rose significantly over the last year, around 5% in the last 12 months since November. Experts say the increase would be even higher without the shift toward remote work. People are more likely to trade higher pay for the perks working from home offers, like no commute, more flexible schedules, and being able to work in pajamas.
  2. 💡 We're On To You - Employers can save up to 15% on wages by hiring remotely, especially if they target job seekers in states with lower average pay rates. However, staffing companies are seeing the gap narrowing as the trend continues to catch on.
  3. 💵 Follow the Yellow Brick Road - Recent data shows a rise in remote job postings in lower wage states, like Kansas, Texas, and Louisiana.
  4. 🏞️ Off The Grid - ManpowerGroup Inc., a top staffing company, saw an increase in job listings with no location specified toward the end of 2021. Most of those positions were in the tech space or call-center positions.
  5. 🚀 Triple Play - Remote-based job ads across the country have tripled since 2019, making up around 12% of postings.

🔥Bottom line: Working from home definitely comes with its fair share of perks. However, before you sign the dotted line on your comfy new job offer, make sure you're getting paid what you deserve!
