Don’t Fall Victim to Impulse Purchases!

Oops, we did it again. We played with our cart. 🛒 Got lost in the…purchase confirmation page. Ooo baby, baby. 🎶😆 We’re not that innocent when we say we’re guilty of an impulse purchase, and we know you’ve done it too! 🫣

Thankfully, there are ways to stop buying what you don’t need. Yes, even when the urge to splurge feels like it’s taking over. 💳

Here’s Five Fast Facts on how to stop impulse buys:

  1. 😴 I’ll Give You an Answer in the Morning - Do you really need that item in your Amazon cart? A great rule of thumb to prevent impulse purchases is to sleep on it. Wait at least 24 hours before making that purchase. In that waiting period, you might realize you don’t need what’s in your cart after all (especially if it’s not a necessity).
  1. ✅ Highly Recommended - Idolizing that waffle maker? We know, you really need to up your breakfast game. Before you pull the trigger, go through the customer reviews. When you have your mind set on a shiny new object, you sometimes go blind to reality. If the description of the item sounds amazing, but customers have negative or critical opinions, pay attention. You could save yourself from buyer’s remorse.
  1. 🌭 Hangry Spree - Don’t shop on an empty stomach! Research shows you’re likely to spend 60% more when hungry versus if you had a full tummy. When you’re hungry, you don’t think as clearly and your body goes into craving mode. The next thing you know, instead of a hot dog, you’re buying a new pair of shoes you don’t need. Fuel up before you hit those stores.
  1. 😵‍💫 Too Blessed for Stress - Don’t shop when you’re stressed, either. In times of stress, you go into fight-or-flight mode, which can cloud your decision making abilities. It’s also easy to use shopping as a stress reliever (hello, retail therapy). However, too much stress shopping can put a major strain on your budget. It’s best to wait until you’re in a calm state to buy stuff.
  1. 🤳 Under the Influence - If we see another “get ready with me” post, we’re gonna get ready…to rumble. It’s easy to become influenced to buy all kinds of stuff from influencers. Remember, they make their money based on what people buy with their referral codes. Of course they’re going to make you feel like you NEED whatever they’re showcasing. Trust us, you really don’t need another crop top.

🔥Bottom line: When faced with an impulse purchase, ask yourself, “what would Britney do?” Honestly, she’d probably buy it, then twirl around in her living room. Thinking of taking a pay cut in the name of happiness? Check out this article
