Food For Thought: West Michigan Food Processors Get Shot in the Arm with Federal $$

It’s no secret that the food service and hospitality industries took a huge hit during COVID. Now, as life returns to normal, one West Michigan town is getting a boost in the form of a grant to help businesses meet current demands. 

 

Here’s Five Fast Facts …… :

  1. 💲 The Dough - The city of Hart will receive a $2.9M federal grant to upgrade it’s water system and increase the capacity to serve the surrounding food processing industry.

  2. 🎉 Yay, Jobs - With this funding, more than 500 jobs will be created or secured.

  3. 💧 About the Area - Hart is home to about 2,000 people. This project will benefit them and much of the surrounding Oceana County, as it will give the region a competitive advantage to create jobs and attract investment.

  4. 📊 By the Numbers - The grant should create 75 new jobs, secure 425, and generate $2M in private investments.
  1. 🌱 Grow Baby, Grow - Overall the Michigan economy continues to grow, with 133,000 new jobs added in the last year, and unemployment dropping every month. 

🔥Bottom line: Water is everything, and this funding will ensure that the food industry in West Michigan gets what it needs to keep fueling the local economy.
