It's been a long 30 years since COVID first hit the scene. Oh -- it's only been two years, seven months and eight days? Our bad.
Anyway, for lots of people at Ford Motor Company who have been enjoying the work-from-home scene for a minute, life's about to change.
Here's Five Fast Facts about Ford's Recent Announcement …… :
- 🧑💼 Work Appropriately - This is the name of the vague program Ford Motor Company instituted for its salaried workers post-pandemic. It meant they thought people were smart enough to decide for themselves when they needed to be in the office and when they could work remotely.
- 🐎 Hold that Horse - That didn't last long. The program started in April of last year, but apparently, the powers that be decided people aren't capable of being appropriate. Is that why they've updated the policy?
- 🆕 New Day, New Rules - The updated policy says that all employees who have been working remotely must now report to the office at least 3 days a week. Chat groups across Facebook were on FIRE with the news - it seems no one saw it coming. 😡 🔥
- 💫 Spinning Us Around - Ford says they made the change because the COVID situation is way better now, and they want people back together again where they can work in a more collaborative environment. Kumbaya!
- ⚖️ Work-Life Balance? When big companies like Ford change course, smaller companies are likely to follow suit. What does that mean for the new work-life balance many people enjoy? Ford says they're remaining committed to "maintaining employee flexibility."
🔥Bottom line: Even pandemics have perks - and the perk for many people during COVID was more flexibility to handle their personal bizness. Will all that change now that the 'vid is on the way out? What do you think?
