Thanks to new federal funding, Ohio’s boosting efforts to start and develop its charter schools. 💵 On a recent stop through Ohio, Linda McMahon laid the smack down…er, shared the details.
Here’s Five Fast Facts on funding for Ohio’s charter schools:
- 💰 Charter Change - Over the next five years, Ohio is expected to get $105 million in federal funding to expand state charter schools. Funding will go towards opening new schools and improving existing ones.
- 🏫 Vouch For It - Right now, the Buckeye State contributes roughly a billion dollars a year to five different private school voucher programs. Two of those programs were recently declared unconstitutional, but the state is appealing the decision.
- 🙌 Donor Jams - Currently, Ohio gives people who donate money towards private school scholarships a kickback. Donors receive up to $750 of the total amount contributed, or $1,500 if filing jointly.
- 🎒 Go Giver - A pro-private school change was also included in the Big Beautiful Bill. Under the new law, donations of up to $1,700 can be given to organizations that grant private school scholarships. Families will then receive a nonrefundable tax credit for the amount of the donation.
- 🤑 All Inclusive - Back in 2023, income eligibility for one of the school voucher programs was extended to families of all income levels. Those in the highest bracket are entitled to a partial scholarship.
