Gas Prices are Falling; But Don’t Celebrate Just Yet

To say prices are falling on anything these days sounds crazier than your great Uncle Bob did at the 4th of July BBQ.

But it's happening, people - gas prices are coming down in Michigan. Is it for the right reasons (and do we care if it's not)?

Here's Five Fast Facts …… :

  1. 📉 Trade you - Stock market traders are responsible for driving the price of crude oil down by 11% over the last two weeks, which then caused fuel prices to drop by about twelve cents.
  2. 🔅 Getting low - The national average is now down to $4.90. And let's be honest, anything under $5 sounds pretty dang good right now. Time to fuel up the moped!
  1. 👇 Lower still - But wait – that's not all, folks! Experts say prices could drop another 25 to 30 cents over the next few weeks. By that point, you may even be able to gas up the lawnmower!
  1. ❓❔ Why now? Even as inflation woes continue, we knew gas prices would have to start falling eventually, and this break at the pump is one we all need. But some economists are warning that this drop could indicate a slow-down in economic growth, ultimately ending with companies not hiring as many people or even laying some off.
  1. 🌧️ Not doom and gloom - Don't fret yet - the economy is still doing just fine, with low unemployment rates, and our insatiable demand to travel and buy things post-pandemic is still high.

🔥Bottom line: The high and low of it is this - lots of things are still priced too high. Gas is starting to fall though, so let's celebrate that by hopping into our compact economic vehicles and cruising to the dollar (fifty) store and back.
