Getting Rid of "Dark Money" in PA Politics

Dark money.🌑 Sounds like the title of a new Scorsese movie. And it very well could be!

There's a whole truck ton of untraceable money being funneled into PA politics. 🚚💸 But groups are forming and pushing back, hoping to bring some good old fashioned honesty into the game. 

Here’s Five Fast Facts on PA's political dark money :

1. 💪 For the Patriots - The group "For Our Freedom" is on the frontlines. They just released a report on just how in the dark we are about where political funding is coming from.
2. 🔦 Out of the Dark - Organizers of the group American Promise are working on creating a 28th Amendment that would shine a light on dark money in politics.
3. 👀 Deep Dark Pockets - An estimated $300 million is expected to be spent on PA elections by November.
4. 🔍 Who Could It Be? - Experts say the untraceable funds are what's responsible for a lot of those nasty attack ads. And a lot of these funds come from outsiders like global corporations and even foreign governments. 
5. 💁 Why Is This Happening? - A 2010 ruling by the Supreme Court says that companies have the right to send financial support to whomever they choose. It's apparently protected through the First Amendment.

🔥Bottom line: It's important for PA peeps to know who's backing their candidates. And it's even more important to figure out who's behind all those dirty ads that drive us bonkers. Let's hope they pull the masks off these crooks. Scooby Doo style.
