Greetings, Prime Citizen! Fast Facts On the Amazon Service We Can't Live Without

We need our items and we need them now! 📦Why head to the store for toilet paper and band-aids when you can have a Prime drone plop them on your doorstep while you eat bon-bons and watch old episodes of Maury?🍫👶

US citizens love Prime's convenience. However, the next-day shipping we've become shockingly dependent on comes with HUGE costs. From labor and logistics to transportation and storage and the friendly folks who drive the trucks and make it all happen, is it all worth it? Is it giving...dystopia?🧟

Here’s Five Fast Facts on Amazon Prime:

  1. 📈 Prime Time - Amazon Prime has 200 million subscribers worldwide. It's only second to Netflix, but current trends show that it's planning on far surpassing them in the near future.
  2. 🤑 Pesos for Bezos - Amazon employees get a starting wage of $15 an hour. Contrast that with the fact that in 2021, Amazon profits shot up 70 percent. Daddy Bezos’s personal wealth grew by $70 billion. We wonder how much he paid for the not-so-dad bod he's been sporting. But hey, he's no Christopher Meloni
  3. 🏀 Ballin, But At What Cost? - Amazon’s revenue from subscriptions in 2020 was $25.2 billion. That's 31 percent more than the previous year AND three times the revenue of the entire NBA!
  4. 🏡 Head of Household - 30 million additional people in the U.S. signed up for Prime last year, meaning that the United States now has more memberships than households. Hashtag is that necessary?
  5. 😵 I Got Chills, They're Multiplyin’ - Amazon’s value has multiplied roughly 97 times since Prime was introduced. Not even the Duggar family can keep up with those numbers.

🔥Bottom line: Amazon Prime has completely changed the way Americans think about what they need and how fast they need it. ⚡ We might not always get a behind-the-scenes look into what it takes to get us our items at lightning speed, but it's quite the undertaking. Also, comparing Bezos' profits to Amazon employee paychecks is kinda cringe. But is it enough for us to go back to our roots and *gasp* go to the store on foot instead? 😰
