New year, new reasons to complain! Personally, we’re complaining about Gen Z bringing back low rise jeans. 👖 Our moms didn’t wanna see our undies peaking out then and they still don’t now. 🫣
Of course, we can’t forget to complain about the rising costs of stayin’ alive. And in Ohio, healthcare costs have budgets tighter than the pants on the Brothers Gibb. 🕺
Here’s Five Fast Facts on healthcare costs in Ohio:
- 📈 O-High-O - In a new WalletHub study of medical costs in America’s 100 biggest cities, a spotlight was on Ohio. Three Buckeye State cities ranked in the top 11 most expensive: Cleveland, Toledo, and Cincinnati.
- 🤑 Not Very Rock n’ Roll - Zooming in on Cleveland, the city took the number two spot. There, medical costs eat up roughly 11.35% of the median monthly income. Cleveland also has the lowest median annual income in the country ($39,187).
- 💊 Holy Toledo - Fourth on WalletHub’s list was Toledo where medical costs consist of 11.03% of the median monthly income. Just missing the top ten, Cincinnati came in at 11 (8.98% of median monthly income).
- ✂️ Pay Cut Strut - People in our comments section be like “gEt a BeTTeR jOb,” but that doesn’t do any good when jobs are paying less all around. After adjusting for inflation, the median annual income for Ohioans went from $71,000 in 2019 to $67,873 in 2023.
- 🩺 Bloated Bills - The trend of healthcare costs outpacing our economy’s inflation isn’t a new story. From 2000 to 2024, medical care costs jumped 121%. The rest of the economy: an 86% jump.
🔥Bottom line: At the end of the day, we just want to see Americans happy, healthy, and thriving. Chat, is it wrong to not want our fellow citizens to sacrifice their first born for a co-pay?
