Help Wanted: Benefits Include A LOT

It used to be that a candidate’s only concern about a new job is how much it pays. Since the pandemic and the Great Resignation, things have changed. While money is still an issue, job seekers have other priorities, too.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on Job Seeker Priorities:

  1. 💰 Make it Rain - A significant increase in salary and included benefits has rocketed to the top of the list. This is, in part, due to the fact that candidates know they’re in demand. And since we’re a capitalist society, supply and demand takes over.
  2. 🤹🏽 Balance Beam - Candidates are also looking for a better work/life balance. The pandemic ripped back the curtain on job burnout. It has also demonstrated, quite definitively, that remote work and a lighter workload are possible.
  3. 🔒 On Lock - Another big one, thanks to the pandemic, is job stability and security. Candidates want to know if potential employers are going to cut them loose at the first sign of trouble. A job where the company puts people over profit is incredibly appealing.
  4. 🤒 Go Home - Paid leave for both children and family, along with maternity leave has also found its way up the list. Again, the pandemic really emphasized that taking care of family shouldn’t be a do or die situation for your job status.
  5. 🤌 Great Value - Finally, employees want a job with a culture and benefits that match their personal values, along with one that has plenty of room for advancement. In other words, they want an answer to “what am I working for?”

🔥Bottom line: We’re now three years past the pandemic hit us all hard. Everything changed and we’re still feeling the shockwaves on multiple fronts. For working Americans, that’s a good thing! It’s not that “nobody wants to work” it’s that “nobody wants to work under the old, difficult rules.”
