Home Buying in the US: Is Pittsburgh a STEEL?

🥩Depending on where you live, you might need to beef up that salary of yours. But in one PA city, homeowners can get a big bang for their buck. 

A recent study figured out how much you'd need to make each year to buy a home in 50 different US cities. Pennsylvania topped the list in one special way. Spoiler alert: catch the next train to Pittsburgh. 🚂

 

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the cost of home buying In PA and across the USA:

  1. 💛🖤Go Steelers! - Pittsburgh, PA is one of the three US cities with the smallest salary needed to buy a home ($42,858). Also on the list were Cleveland, Ohio ($45,448) Oklahoma City, OK ($45,299).
  2. 💸 Coast To Coast - Want to buy a home in San Diego, Seattle, or Boston instead? You'll need to make about $100K a year...
  3. 🏡 Middle of The Road - ...However, in New Orleans, LA, Birmingham, AL, or Memphis, TN, you can get yourself a humble abode with a salary of under $60K.
  4. 🤺Battle Royale -  Homebuyers in PA and around the country are complaining of huge competition when it comes to snagging their dream dwelling. And climbing interest rates aren't making it any easier.
  5. 🏙️ Home Sweet Home - According to the Census Bureau, as of April of this year, the rate of home ownership in the U.S. was 65%.

🔥Bottom line: Homeownership is a major step when it comes to #adulting. Having enough moolah to afford it is super-important. While it's great that you don't need a high salary to call Pittsburgh home, competition is still high and folks in some areas are going head to head with other eager buyers.
