How To Grow Michigan's Economy

Hey Michiganders! A group of really smart economic leaders just put together a list of 10 priorities to jump start the economic growth in our state. They're basically giving our lawmakers a treasure map, telling them exactly where to dig for gold. Let's check out that map!

Here are Five Fast Facts about an economic plan to super-charge Michigan's growth:

  1. 🈺 Bring Them In - To attract businesses and keep them here, the leaders want to keep a $100 million Business Development Program. It's basically a pile of money to make sure companies choose Michigan over, you know, Ohio.
  1. 👀 For The People - They're also suggesting $50 million to make sure our cities look shiny and new with something called the "Revitalization and Placemaking Program." It’s basically a state-wide makeover fund to get everyone to say, "Wow, I want to live there!"
  1. 🧪 Make It Here - The group wants to double the state's Research and Development Tax Credit to a massive $200 million. That's like the government giving you a giant coupon just for being smart and inventing cool stuff.
  1. ♥️ Gotta Have People - They're also pushing for a $10 million fund to get new people to move here and not leave - you know, because you need people for all those new businesses. It's like a special fund to convince everyone that Michigan is the best place in the world.
  1. 🆕 Innovate This - Finally, they want to put $100 million back into something called "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programming," which is currently only getting about $16 million. It's a comeback tour for innovators, and it's going to be epic!

🔥Bottom line: So, there you have it! The smart people have spoken, and they've given Michigan a list of ten goals to make the state a magnet for businesses, talent, and cool ideas. But it’s up to lawmakers to hit the “start” button and make it happen.

What do you think of these priorities?
