Did you hear about the guy who took his boat out on a chilly day? 🚣 To warm up, he started a nice cozy fire. It didn’t end well. Let’s just say you can’t have your kayak and heat it too. 😑🔥
If you love hunting, put on your Sunday best! PA just dropped several new outdoor hunting laws for all you nature lovin’ guys and gals. 🍄 Check ‘em out!
Here’s Five Fast Facts on PA’s latest outdoor laws:
- 🦌 Sunday Funday - PA’s centuries-long ban on Sunday hunting just got lifted, thanks to HB 1431. Governor Shapiro put his signature on the bill at a recent ceremony at the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club in Dauphin County. (Rick Flair voice) WOO!
- 🎯 On Target - Before HB 1431, hunters were only allowed to go after foxes, crows, and coyotes on the Lord’s day. In 2019, the state started setting aside three Sundays for deer hunting. The new changes will take effect this fall as the new hunting seasons get underway.
- 🎣 Right Down the Line - If you’re a disabled veteran, going fishing just got a whole lot easier. SB 232 removes the annual fishing license fee and application for vets with a 100% disability determination. This new perk gives disabled vets free lifetime fishing licenses, even if their disability determination isn’t permanent.
- 🛶 I’m On A Boat - Abandoned boats suck up a lot of the state’s time and resources. They not only junk up waterways, but they also lead to a lot of unnecessary emergency calls. HB 103 outlines a new process for handling abandoned boats and holds boat owners responsible in the form of fines and restitution.
- 🗃️ Good Housekeeping - A couple of administrative (AKA non-sexy) bills also passed. Under HB 992, the PA Fish and Boat Commission gets to shift around members to improve efficiency. SB 518 edits the state game code to make it more in line with the U.S. Constitution.
🔥Bottom line: Now that we can hunt on Sundays, can we get Chic-Fil-A to stay open, too? Too much to ask? In other Keystone State news, many PA seniors rely on public transportation to get from A to B. However, in rural areas, the future of some transit options could be in jeopardy. Wanna know more?
