Illegal Voting and Election Fraud? Ohio Investigates!

From dead grannies casting ballots to hackers stealing voter data, it's no secret that plenty of folks are worried about elections being legit. 😵‍💫 But have no fear! Ohio's putting their detective cap on to get to the bottom of it. 🔍

Ohio's Secretary of State is going full blown Sherlock Holmes on the election process, hiring investigators to look under the hood for any sketchy activity. 👀

Here’s Five Fast Facts about the new initiative:

  1. 🕵️ Elementary, My Dear Watson - OH Secretary of State LaRose plans to hire the new investigators after the upcoming 2022 elections. On the to-do list: illegal voting, campaign finance issues, cybersecurity, and unauthorized notaries.
  2. 🗳️ #1 Threat - One out of five OH citizens say "threats to democracy" are their number one concern for the upcoming November elections. Economic issues are in the number two spot.
  3. 🪦 On the Case - The Secretary of state reported that 77 cases of potential voter fraud were brought to local prosecutors. These cases include non-citizens casting ballots, double voting, and dead people voting (we see you, "granny").
  4. 🧮 Gotta Count 'Em All - Although voter fraud is pretty rare, every vote counts. 31 of Ohio's races have ended in ties since 2020.
  5. 🧐 Seems Sus - Some say LaRose's new detective squad is just a stunt to further his own political aspirations. He's got plans to run for Senate.

🔥Bottom line: Voter fraud is a big deal and it's important for people to have confidence in the system. The good news is that, even though it happens, it doesn't happen that often. Jury's still out on whether or not this new initiative will find any new funny business. In the meantime, get your voter motor running and make your plans for the midterms!
