It's Goin' Down: PA Unemployment Rate Lowest in 20 Years

How low can you go?! And no, we're not talking about throwing your back out during limbo at your family reunion. 😆😵 PA's unemployment dropped it down LOW, and we think we even saw it twerk. 🤭

The latest unemployment data revealed the rate went down to 4.2% in August. That's the lowest it's been since June 2000! 

 

Here’s Five Fast Facts about the new stats:

  1. 🤏🏼Just an Itty Bitty Bit - Although PA's rate went down, recent data shows the U.S. unemployment rate was up two-tenths of a percentage point over the month to 3.7%.
  2. 👷 Workin' for the Weekend - PA's unemployment rate was 1.9 percentage points below what it was in August.
  3. 🤓🖥️ More Jobs than Steve - The state's employment count rose 4,000 (to 6,175,000). On the flip side, unemployment declined 2,000 (to 273,000).
  4. 💼 At Your Service - Two business categories really crushed it when it comes to kicking unemployment to the curb. The trade, transportation, & utilities and professional & business services industries both had record high employment levels, even beating out records from the '90s!
  5. 🦘 Bounce Back SZN - Between April 2020 and August 2022, the Keystone State regained 90% of jobs lost in the first two months of the pandemic.

🔥Bottom line: Less unemployment makes everyone do a happy dance! PA's digging itself out of its pandemic woes and more citizens are able to find work and get back to it. Now the *real* test is just how well companies can fend off the quiet quitting brigade
