Loud Logos are Out! We've Entered the "Quiet Luxury" Era!

I see rich people. They're everywhere! 👀💰 In fact, these days the uber-wealthy are toning down their look, swapping out loud logos for more boring (but still pricey) wardrobes. Will this new habit prevent the peasants like us from throwing tomatoes? We're not sure yet. 😆🍅

“Quiet Luxury” is all the rage right now. In case you haven't heard, it's also known as dressing to show-off "stealth wealth." You see, clothing in a “quiet luxury” wardrobe is indeed made up of expensive materials but they are all neutral, understated colors and tones. 👕 The goal is to make yourself ***look*** as boring as possible but still polished and put together. Think Martha Stewart on a yacht versus Paris Hilton from the late 2000's. 🛳️🎉

Want to know how to get the look good for less? We've got you covered (literally).

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the quiet luxury trend:

  1. 🫣 I'm Invisible - After the '08 financial crisis, wealthy people wanted to tone it down to avoid standing out in the crowd. Today, with a new recession on the horizon, the quiet luxury look is making a comeback. The difference? This time people are going even more under the radar, but their humdrum clothes carry an even higher price tag. See good ol' Gwynny P's recent courtroom attire for reference.
  1. 👔 Kendall Roy Vibes - Luckily, us regular folk can hop on the quiet luxury trend without blowing our entire paychecks. Fashion experts say all you need to create the look are well-fitting clothes in neutral colors. To build a stealth wealth wardrobe on a budget, look for classic-cut blazers and tailored trousers. Wide leg pants are big for the ladies right now, too. Pair these staples with a neutral top and everyone will think you stepped right off the set of Succession.
  1. 🧥 Just Blaze - One place to look for all things quiet luxury is the Spanish clothing brand, Zara. This trendy mall store has everything you need to build a simple wardrobe. Their blazers are chef's kiss and you can pick one up without breaking the bank.
  1. 👖 Fall Into the Gap - While you're at the mall, other stores to stop by include Gap and H&M. Gap's been around forever and they're known for their classic styles, especially when it comes to a great pair of jeans. Pick up all your neutral-colored basics, like tees, tanks, and trousers, at H&M. There, you can snag a ton of quiet luxury staples for under 30 bucks.
  1. 👜 Now That's Thrifty - Craving some actual luxury? Consider purchasing luxury items from your local consignment shop or online from shops like ThredUp! Depending on where you live, local shops can be a gold mine for designer coats and handbags. Pair your thrifted finds with jeans and a tee from Walmart or Target and everyone will think you just flew in from Beverly Hills.

🔥Bottom line: Neutral, well-fitting clothing is always a style staple. Chances are you already have some quiet luxury items in your closet. If you nail the stealth wealth look, people won't know if your trousers came from Goodwill or Gucci! Did you miss our article on how to buy and sell secondhand clothing?
