Making Money In Seattle Without A College Degree

While a college degree is certainly good for making a career and a good living, college isn’t for everyone. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics recently pointed out a lot of opportunities for those who don’t have a college degree, even in a high tech place like Seattle.

Here are Five Fast Facts job opportunities you might be interested in:

  1. 📲Most Likely - If you want easily accessible, look for a sales rep role (excluding high tech). There are over 21k such jobs in Seattle, with an average salary around $82k, compared to the national average of $72k. You don’t need to sell igloos to Eskimos…just other stuff… and to everyone.
  2. 🏢Second Most Likely - If sales isn’t your bag, look for an office/admin supervisor position. There are over 18k of these averaging a salary just under $80k, far above the national average of $63k. It’s a #cubicleworld and you can be a part of it!
  3. 🃏📬Most Exclusive - If you like challenges, go for a gambling manager or Postmaster. With only 50 of each of these in Seattle, this club could be tough to break into. But, with average salaries of $97k or $87k respectively (both are about $6-7k higher than the national average salary), it could be worth the time and effort! Ignore any other possible connection between gambling and distributing your mail.
  4. 🤑Highest In The Nation - Seattle salaries are tops in the nation for several non-college jobs: audio/video technician, signal/switch track operator, property/real estate manager, and power distributor/dispatcher. With average salaries up to $132k, all are at least 30% higher than the national averages. Cha-ching, baby!
  5. 👮Highest Pay - The top paying non-college job in Seattle is police/detective supervisor. Average salary is over $134k, compared to a national average of $99k. With the recent crime wave, Seattle probably needs as many of these as we can get!

🔥Bottom line: College degrees are important and can open many doors. We can’t all be Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, but if you don’t have a college degree there are still great career options that can lead to great Paychecks.
