Many Wisconsin businesses plan to increase pay and 88% say they are struggling to find workers

You can’t walk down the block without seeing all the “Hiring” signs…88% of Wisconsin businesses say they are struggling to find workers.

Is it because the youngins are freeloaders with no work ethic? Or something else?


Here’s the Five Fast Facts you need to know about the situation:


  1. 🤑🤌 *Survey says: Pay up! - A survey of 265 Wisconsin businesses found that more than 80% plan to raise their wages at least 3% or more this year.
  2. 📝👀Just Give Me a Reason Why! - When listing the reasons why businesses are having trouble hiring people, 44% said there is a lack of qualified applicants, 36% cited the labor shortage and 9% cited generous unemployment benefits.
  3. 💪🧑‍🏭Wisconsin’s economy is still strong, though - Of all the businesses surveyed, 53% of said the state's economy is either “strong'' or “very strong.” SO, don’t be discouraged.
  4. 💵📈Business is also (kinda) booming - Nearly 90% of the businesses responding to the survey said that they were profitable in the last six months.
  5. 👷👩‍💼 More workers are being added now and in the immediate future - When looking forward to the next six months of doing business, about 70% plan to increase the number of employees and 30% plan to keep the same number of employees. Progress is progress!
