More Good Jobs For Washingtonians!

We celebrate any time we see job growth in our state because it means bigger and better Paychecks! A recent announcement from the government has us celebrating once again.

Here are Five Fast Facts about the Good Jobs Challenge grant award:

  1. 🏆What Did We Win? The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) was one of 32 recipients of money from the Good Jobs Challenge grant process. It beat out 500 other applicants! Suck it, Oregon.
  2. 💰How Much Did We Win? The WSAC received over $23M (spread over three years) to help Washingtonian students get better jobs through advanced education and training partnerships.
  3. 👍Where Did It Come From? The Good Jobs Challenge is one component of the American Rescue Plan to help with post-pandemic economic recovery efforts. Throwing money around is what the government does best (but we’ll still take it and use it for good stuff, thank you very much).
  4. 🤓Is It Really Needed? Estimates suggest that 70% of the new jobs in our state require some sort of post-secondary education, but only 40% of our students have it. Um, yeah, we’ve got some work to do there…
  5. 🚀👩‍💻What’s It For? The grant money will be used to help fill thousands of jobs that were impacted by COVID in the high-demand industries of advanced manufacturing and aerospace, clean energy, construction, financial services, healthcare, and IT/cybersecurity. All the shiny things that make life better and more fun!

🔥Bottom line: We are very optimistic about the jobs (and Paychecks!) that should come about because of this grant. They should be high education, high paying jobs, with tons of upside in the future. That’s the kind of success we love to see!

Do you work in one of these high demand industries? Do you need new students coming in with fresh energy and excitement?
