So, you spent four years cramming, stressing, and living off instant noodles — and now, the reward for all that hard work? A job market that’s about as friendly as a cat in a bathtub. The Class of 2025 is stepping into a world where finding a job is like trying to win American Idol with kazoo solos.
Here are Five Fast Facts on the awful 2025 Job Search Adventure:
- 🐲 "Entry-Level" Jobs Require Experience - Companies are acting like hiring a fresh graduate is the same risk as adopting a dragon. They want "entry-level" employees...who have already founded their own billion-dollar global conglomerate, twice.
- 🤦 Expectations, Meet Reality - Most graduates expect to land their first job within three months. In recent years, though, only 77% did that, and 5% still haven’t landed a gig. Also, some grads are realizing their $100k degree in Underwater Basket Weaving and Medieval Poetry may not scream “hire me.”
- 🙏 Networking = Fashionable Begging - Grads are basically professional LinkedIn stalkers now — sliding into DMs, liking posts from strangers, and praying for someone, anyone, to say, "Sure, let's chat!"
- 💡 Parents Are "Suggesting" Jobs A Little Too Hard - They mean well, but Mom and Dad are suddenly experts in everything: "Have you considered becoming a lighthouse keeper? Very stable work!" (No Mom, there are no lighthouses near Kansas.)
- ⌛ Hiring Managers Are Taking Their Sweet Time - Some companies are ghosting candidates longer than middle school crushes — interviews happen, then…total radio silence. Maybe they're still "circling back" from 2023…?
🔥Bottom line: The Class of 2025 is learning real fast that adulting is just a giant group project with no clear instructions. But hey, if they can survive finals week, cafeteria food, and dorm plumbing, they can survive a chilly job market too. Eventually, they'll hopefully find their dream jobs — or at least the "I'll work anywhere that pays and doesn’t involve wrestling raccoons" kind of job.
Do you know a new grad being impacted by this job market?
