New Food Benefits Combat Inflation for MN Kids

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Minnesota’s Food Aid Program :

  1. 🥫Mouths to Feed - The families of 410,000 children who are approved for free or reduced price meals will receive $435.
  2. 🧅Direct Deposit - The money will be loaded directly onto Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Initiative (P-EBT) cards. There is no cash changing hands.
  3. 🥩Younguns - Families with children ages 5 and younger will receive $218 onto their EBT cards. They must be enrolled in SNAP, MFIP or Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
  4. 🥪Use it or Lose It - Starting in September, all benefits will be removed from the cards after they haven’t been used for nine months. They cannot be replaced after that.
  5. 🍎Point of Origin - After submitting an application, Minnesota is one of 27 states to receive the funding. Families already enrolled in the P-EBT program do not need to apply again. And families not enrolled have until Sept. 2 to apply.

🔥Bottom line: Getting healthy meals to marginalized children is tough enough, but with inflation making things go insane, it’s even tougher. The federal government may be screwing a lot up, but for once it’s not forgetting the less fortunate Minnesotans. Hopefully this can provide them with some relief.
