What do an electric vehicle (EV) driver and a person with diarrhea have in common? They’re both praying they make it home! 🥴💩 And if you’ve got a rumbly tummy in an EV with a low battery, Godspeed. 🫡
One of the biggest issues with EVs is a lack of charging stations on road trips. But thanks to federal funding, the PA Turnpike got some upgrades. 😎
Here’s Five Fast Facts on PA’s new EV charging station:
- 🔋 Charge Up - Driving on the PA Turnpike? Stop at the Blue Mountain Service Plaza (Exit 202 westbound). It’s home to the first federally funded EV charging station in the Keystone State. By next week, another will be open at the New Stanton Service Plaza (Exit 77 westbound).
- 🚗 Trip Sitter - These new stations were all thanks to funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. As the program continues, the intention is to help EV drivers feel more confident making the Turnpike trek without running out of juice.
- 📋 Goal Getter - Project plans to add even more charging stations is well underway. By 2027, the goal is to have a total of 80 new universal EV stations across the Turnpike’s 17 service plazas.
- 🔌 Electric Feel - On top of the NEVI initiatives, the PA Turnpike recently opened several other EV charging stations. Thanks to the state’s Driving PA Forward program, you can now get a high-speed charge at the North Somerset, South Somerset, and Hickory Run service plazas.
- ⚡ Turnpike Turnaround - NEVI funding was once put on hold by the Trump administration, but Gov. Shapiro wasn’t having it. This past summer, Shapiro and 15 other states sued the Trump administration, won, and got the NEVI program back up and running.
🔥Bottom line: EVs aren’t everyone’s favorite, but they’re not going anywhere. The more there are on the road, the more roadways will need to adapt. Wondering how that Tesla-driving millionaire hit it big? Instead of going goo-goo for the Flashy Frankies, pay attention to the peeps that don’t flaunt it. They’ve got some quiet millionaire tips up their sleeve…and we recap them here!
