Our wallets are exhausted and back to school commercials are creeping in faster than monkeypox. 🐒 But Ohio's coming through with a tax-free weekend to give you a break! 😅
This weekend, August 5, 6 and 7, is tax-free weekend in the Buckeye state. Time to stock up on everything you need to get the kiddos ready...and maybe treat yo-self to a little somethin' special. 👛
Here’s Five Fast Facts on the OH tax-free weekend :
- 🛒 Details, Please - At retailers state-wide, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax: clothing priced at $75 or less, school supplies priced at $20 or less, and school instructional materials priced at $20 or less.
- 🗒️ Fine Print - There is no limit on the amount of your total purchase, but not everything is eligible under the tax-free guidelines. Items like certain clothing accessories, sports equipment, and costumes aren't eligible so check before you buy.
- 😎 All Weekend Long - The tax-free holiday weekend starts Friday, August 5th and midnight and ends Sunday the 7th at 11:59pm. You'll have all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to shop!
- 🧑🏫 Origin Story - Back in 2019, the state government passed a bill allowing for a permanent sales tax holiday on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of August each year.
- 👗 On The Catwalk - Ohio Valley Mall is also hosting their back to school fashion show and their teacher appreciation day this weekend.
🔥Bottom line: This weekend will give Ohio families a chance to stock up on what they need for the upcoming school year. Because the holiday is set by law, all retailers have to participate! Make sure to head out early to grab everything on your list.
