Overlooked Jobs That Provide Six-Figure Salaries

Want to make six figures without becoming a doctor, lawyer, or influencer who gets paid to photograph breakfast (ugh, please stop that)? There may be more options than you think. People tend to chase familiar careers like doctors and lawyers while overlooking equally lucrative alternatives. Sometimes the best career move is simply knowing what to look for.

‍

Here are Five Fast Facts on overlooked careers that pay over $100k:

  1. 🟰 Risky Business - If you love a spreadsheet, this one's for you. Financial risk specialists average $124k annually but get only 310 Google searches per month, and they're expected to have over 5k job openings annually through 2035.
  1. 👮 It's The Law - If you're already in law enforcement, police supervisors average $112k but get just 400 searches per month. Of course, you'll need real experience and a promotion, so it's not exactly a shortcut for someone whose only experience involves watching reruns of Cops.
  1. 🧑‍🏫 Help Me Help You - Training and development managers take the salary crown, averaging $148k annually. They design employee training programs and help companies develop their own workforces. Suddenly, that co-worker who keeps over-explaining everything doesn't seem so annoying.
  1. 🤝 Can You Spare Some Change? - Fundraising managers land a salary of around $140k annually. It's expected to grow 6% per year (3,500 openings), but only gets 1,100 searches per month. If you can persuade people to fork over cash, you've got a bright future here!
  1. 🤔 Also Rans - Some other top jobs include meteorologists, power distributors, ship engineers, financial examiners, and geoscientists, all of which average $106k - $116k, but get very few searches each month. Yay, variety!

🔥Bottom line: Some of these have intimidating requirements, and aren't for everyone. Often, you'll need a bachelor's or master's degree plus some experience. A six-figure salary is nice, but nobody said you could just show up Monday and demand one. But there are plenty of options out there, especially if you're already working in the field. And maybe stop telling your kids they have to become doctors to make bank. Apparently, there's plenty of money in jobs you've never heard of.
