PA Rings in the New Year with Increased Gas Taxes!

Just when you thought gas was heading back down to a reasonable price, Pennsylvania's smacking you back into apocalyptic reality! 😵👋🏼Maybe it's time to convert your Mad Max roadster into an electric vehicle?! 🏍️

PA's welcoming in 2023 with some brand-spankin' new gas tax increases. We are *not* pumped. Pun intended. 😑⛽

Here’s Five Fast Facts on the latest gas tax hike:

  1. 🎭 Acting Out - The new gas tax hike goes into effect on January 1, 2023. The increase is due to Act 89, which was signed into law back in 2013. The act was put into place to help pay for the PA’s bridges and roads. *Rolls eyes* aren't they all?

  2. 🚙 Gas Pump Problems - According to PennDOT, the gas tax will go up from about 58 cents per gallon to over 61 cents per gallon.
  1. 💪🏽 Vin Diesel - Diesel fuel is expected to increase from 74 cents per gallon to 78 cents.
  1. ⏳ Slight Delay - These price hikes are for gasoline wholesalers, which means you won't feel it at the pump right away. It takes awhile for the effects to trickle down to consumers, but you'll definitely feel it over time.
  1. 📃⬆️ Movin' On Up! - Pennsylvania is third on the list of states with the nation's highest gas taxes (behind California and Illinois). After this new hike, PA will move up to the number two spot.

🔥Bottom line: We've been stressing out about gas prices for most of 2022. It looks like 2023 might be a whole new ballgame. Let's hope our tax dollars actually go towards filling a pothole or seven.
