Rising Electricity Prices in PA

🔌It's electric! Minus the boogie. And the while we're at it, the woogie, too. 😕

Starting this month, PA residents could see a sharp increase in their electricity bills. Utility companies state-wide are making these adjustments for what they call "electric generation".

Sounds like what they'll call Gen Z's children, but ok. 😑

Here’s Five Fast Facts about the price hikes:

  1. 🪁🔑Thats...A LOT - Electricity prices could increase by anywhere from 6%-45%, depending on your provider. Ben Franklin would NEVER.
  2. 💲 Womp Womp - If your provider is PPL, your rates are expected to increase by 38%. That's an average of $34 more per household.
  3. ⏰ TBD - If your providers are PECO, Duquesne Light, or Pike County Light & Power, your increases are still being discussed.
  4. 💰 Your Fridge Is Running - If your budget allows, now might be the time to switch to more energy-efficient appliances to cut down on bills over the long term.
  5. 💻 You Better Shop Around - In PA, if you're not impressed with your current energy provider, you can shop around for something better...or cheaper. Check this site out to learn more.

🔥Bottom line: As if we needed another kick in the wallet, these price hikes could be a major inconvenience to those already struggling to keep up with their finances. If you need assistance with your utility bills, call PA's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to see if you're eligible for a rebate. You can reach them at 1-866-857-7095 and you have until June 17th to apply.
