What underwear brand do seniors love the most? Well, it really Depends. 🤪🩲 We’re calling the incontinence hotline for more info, but they asked us if we could hold. 😱 The audacity!

If you’re caring for kiddos and your aging parents, congratulations. You’re now a member of the sandwich generation! 🥙 Plates are piled high and for many women, all that caregiving impacts their day jobs.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on sandwich gen moms and the workforce:

  1. 🥪 Join the Club - According to a recent report, half of the moms in Gen Sammie say they’ve left a job over their caregiving duties. One of the biggest reasons? A lack of support from their employer. The report also revealed that two-thirds of these caregivers said their benefits don’t help enough. Additionally, 68% reported a lack of child care benefits.
  1. 🥖 Roll With It - Working moms aren’t using their PTO for a spa day. In a survey of mothers caring for both kids and adults, respondents said they use almost two-thirds of their time off caregiving-related activities. When it comes to aging parents, 75% of respondents said they take off multiple times a year to deal with unplanned needs.
  1. ♨️ We’re Toast - Moms with dual caregiving responsibilities are more stressed than moms without adult dependents to look after. Over half say they’re stuck in their current job because they don’t have the time to learn new skills and advance. On top of that, 42% fear talking about it at work and 40% feel isolated.
  2. 🍞 Let’s Get This Bread - COVID did a number on the workforce and we’re still recovering from reduced pay and lost wages. Between February and April of 2020, the number of employed women in the U.S. dropped by a whopping 12 million. It took about 11 months for the level of male workers to bounce back, but employed women didn’t recover to pre-pandemic levels until January of 2023.
  1. 🌯 That’s a Wrap - So what are companies doing to help? Some are beginning to offer caregiver leave. Flexible working conditions also help dual caregivers maintain more of a work-life balance. Companies are also beefing up their educational support and exploring AI-powered caregiving resources.

🔥Bottom line: If you’re a full time mom and caregiver, working full time on top of that makes you the real MVP.
