What’s your go-to hungover binge watch? 📺 We’re torn between Seinfeld and Flavor of Love. Really depends on whether we were more of a Kramer or a Flava Flav the night before.🤣
Can’t use your mom’s Netflix anymore? You may be entitled to compensation. LOL, just kidding. Big Streaming is on a mission to squash account sharing. ❌😪 Here, we dive into just how much it’ll cost ya.
Here’s Five Fast Facts on streaming service costs:
- 🛑 Access Denied - Fun fact: 83% of Americans use streaming services to catch their favorite shows and movies. A lot of Americans also share their accounts with people outside the home. However, streaming giants recently started cracking down and now charge to add these folks to your plan.
- 🍿 Binge Sesh - Let’s start with Netflix. A Standard with Ads single subscription will run you $7.99 a month. If you want to share with one person outside your home, you’ll have to upgrade to the Standard plan at $17.99 a month AND add the person for another $6.99 ($8.99 if you remove ads). The Premium plan costs $24.99 and gives access to four devices within your home at a time, but you’ll still need to add on outsiders at $6.99/$8.99.
- 🐭 House of Mouse - Moving over to Disney, you’ll pay $9.99 a month for a basic plan with ads. You can add someone outside your home for an extra $6.99 a month. Got the ad-free Disney+ Premium plan ($15.99/mo)? Sharing your account with an outsider costs an additional $9.99.
- 💻 Hulu-lujah - Any Hulu fanatics present? A base Hulu plan with ads will run you $9.99 a month. The ad-free plan costs $18.99. It costs $6.99 to add someone outside the home to the basic plan and $9.99 to a plan without ads.
- 📦 Prime Time - If you have an Amazon Prime account, you also get access to Jeff Bezos' streaming empire. A Prime membership is $14.99 or $139 if you pay annually. If you don’t care about free shipping or the other Prime perks, you can pay just $8.99 for video streaming. Right now, you can’t share your account with anyone outside of your household.
🔥Bottom line: Wanna kick it old school? Invite your pals over for a good, old-fashioned movie night. Now that’s what we call sharing and caring. If you’re tackling any home improvement projects these days, you probably noticed supplies cost more at the Home Depot. We can thank our good pal inflation for that!
