Spread Your Wings and Fly (Out of Somewhere Other Than Madison)

You’d think New York or Los Angeles would be the priciest place to fly out of, but you’re wrong. It’s right here in Madison of all places.

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Madison’s Pricey Flights:

  1. ✈️ Top Flight - Madison’s airport has the highest average ticket price out of the nation’s top 100 busiest airports according to a new study.
  1. 🛫Maximum Altitude - Dane County Regional Airport’s airfare was $526 with the national average coming in at $397.
  1. 🛬 Taking Off - It should be noted that this price is actually $135 more expensive than it was in 2021. That’s a 35% increase, but it’s still not the largest. Pensacola International airport increased by 51% and Seattle/Tacoma went up 49%.
  1. 🛩️ Into the Stratosphere - COVID led to fewer flights, but the number of people still wanting to travel has not decreased. Supply and demand strikes again. I’m assuming the number of people who want to see in-air MMA fights go down has also increased.
  1. 💺 Go Elsewhere - Get this: airport representatives are encouraging you to check prices at Milwaukee and Rockford airports and consider flying out of there instead.

🔥Bottom line: That statistic is nuts. But it demonstrates that people want (or need) to travel so badly that they’re willing to pay whatever cost necessary. Wonder if the airline employees are being compensated accordingly. Stop! I can hear you laughing from here.
