  1. 👨‍👩‍👧 Who’s Eligible? - Wisconsin homeowners in single-family homes, condos, duplexes or factory building homes as a primary residence who have experienced a qualifying hardship after Jan. 21, 2020. They have to have a household income at or below 100% of the area median income.
  2. 🏠 What Can I Use it For? - The money can be used for mortgage payments, local property taxes, and utilities (including internet), as well as housing counseling and legal services.
  3. 🧾 Bet on the House - The state has already distributed more that $4M to about 800 unique homeowners across the state.
  4. 🦠 Hard Times - The program identifies financial hardships as a long list of things, including job loss, loss of wages or fewer paid hours at work; if you had to self-quarantine and were unable to work or if you are self-employed and your businesses’ income has been reduced. Homeowners who did not have COVID can apply, as can applicants without any income at all.
  5. 🤑 Gold Rush - So far, the program has seen 13,000 applications, which are in various stages of being processed. But the money is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you’re thinking about applying, head over to the website and get on it fast.

🔥Bottom line: Better late than never, right? This program looks to be a big source of help for homeowners in need and has clearly proven to be popular. Hopefully it’s just the first of many steps Wisconsinites need to recover from a tough few years.
