Here’s Five Fast Facts on how much time Americans spend thinking about their finances:
- 🧠 Money Mind - How much time does the average American think about their finances? According to some fresh survey data, roughly four hours a day. Our minds are full of bills, banks, and bagging the latest bargain.
- 💭 Train of Thought - The data also shows people are thinking about money more now than in the past. The survey showed that 54% of respondents think about it more this year than last year. Generationally, 62% of Gen X said they’re feeling financial stress harder than ever, as did 41% of Boomers.
- 📲 Data On Demand - With our smartphones glued to our hands, checking in on your money situation is easier than ever. The survey showed that 17% of Americans check their bank accounts multiple times a day. Another 17% said they check in at least daily.
- 💰 Table Topics - What money issues take up the most brain space? Around 57% reported thinking about bills while 51% spend their time pondering inflation and rising prices. Housing costs were top of mind for 34%, debt 30%, tariffs 28%, and 24% said retirement savings.
- 🪄 Wish List - When asked what would send their money anxiety packing, 45% said cheaper living expenses. Another 29% said economic improvement, 28% said elimination of debt, 25% a bigger emergency fund, and 18% said a detailed financial plan.
🔥Bottom line: Finding yourself in a money thought spiral? Take a breather and touch a little grass…the lawn kind (or the Snoop kind, we won’t judge).
