The U.S. job market is generally stressful right now. Unemployment is ticking up in general, but one industry in particular out there is killing it! We've got the details, and why it keeps growing even when the job market is messier than a locker room.
Here are Five Fast Facts about the healthcare job boom:
- 😒 Not Greatness - According to the latest report, the U.S. added around 64,000 jobs overall but unemployment still went up a bit (to 4.6%). The job market is doing that thing where it pats its head and rubs its belly at the same time and fails at both.
- 🎉 Bucking The Trend - Healthcare stood out by adding about 46,000 jobs in one month. While most industries were more like, “Nah, we’re good,” healthcare basically showed up with a truck and said “Sure, hop in!”
- 🏃 Catching Up? - There's been a shortage of healthcare pros for years. Part of the fix has been time - time for new folks to get into an industry seeking workers more desperately than 40-year old virgins.
- 🤝 Variety Is Key - It’s not just doctors and nurses, though - healthcare is also hiring office staff, tech workers, support roles, and administrators.
- 👍 Long Term Prospects - Experts say healthcare will probably keep hiring because people keep getting older and sicker. And it'll take time for the benefits of the new food pyramid to kick in, too.
🔥Bottom line: So while the job market is being a bit schizo, healthcare is balling out every month. If you’re job hunting right now, following the healthcare crowd might be smarter than standing around yelling, “Why is this happening?!” at the economy.
