The Robots Are Coming!

We just talked about Minnesota’s labor shortage in the face of historically-low unemployment rates. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has found a solution it’s already acting on: robots.

Here’s Five Fast Facts on Minnesota’s Automation Solution:

  1. 🤖 T-800 - DEED has unveiled the Automation Loan Participation Program, providing companion loans to cover financing gaps and expand financing opportunities to help small businesses automate quickly.
  2. 🦾T-1000 - The loans can be used for purchasing machinery, equipment, or software to increase productivity and automation.
  3. 🦿OCP Unit 001 - Qualified businesses include those involved in manufacturing, technology, and warehousing with 500 or fewer employees. Basically, if it’s hard for them to afford automation services, this helps them get it.
  4. 🙂WALL-E - There are also grants of up to $35,000 available to train employees to operate the technology.
  5. 💵ED-209 - Loans go up to $500,000 and applications are now open.

🔥Bottom line: Employers need employees. Minnesota has a lack of available employees to match specific skill sets. Businesses will collapse without those employees. Thankfully DEED has the sense to step up and do something about it while helping small businesses succeed. Though I do worry this is how Skynet starts
