Trump And Michigan: Is It A Win, Or Not?

Michigan is sending mixed signals right now. Voters are frustrated by the rising cost of living, even as President Trump recently stopped by to celebrate economic wins. For a lot of families, the numbers coming out of Washington don’t always match what’s coming out of their paychecks. So what’s really going on? We’ll lay out the facts—you decide.

Here are Five Fast Facts on whether Trump is winning in Michigan…or not:

  1. 📉 Big Picture - More voters think Trump made the overall economy weaker (48%) than stronger (38%). It was a lot more meh than yippee on this one.
  1. 🤷 Personally Speaking - When it comes to voters personally, only about 26% say Trump's policies made them stronger, but a third (34%) say they’re worse off. Most (39%) said there was no impact at all.
  1. 🈴 Grading The Economy - When grading Trump’s economic report card, more voters gave him an “F” (32%) than an “A” (16%), though over 55% would give him a passing grade (actually 67% if you subscribe to the "D = diploma" theory).
  1. 👀 Price Matching - A whopping 64% say prices on things went up under Trump's term, and 83% of those blame food and groceries. The good news: dieting saves you money!
  1. 🤔 Wait, What? - Interestingly enough, the very same poll shows that Republicans are leading the polls for both of the major state offices (Governor and Senator) right now. Make that one make sense!

🔥Bottom line: Seriously—how does that add up? If voters really thought Trump was to blame for today’s economic pain, you wouldn’t expect them to be drifting toward Republicans at the same time. That suggests something else is going on. Maybe it’s not about the economy at all, but about Trump himself. Or maybe these numbers are picking up a deeper frustration that doesn’t fit neatly into party lines. Either way, the next election is still a political lifetime away, and plenty can change before anyone casts a ballot. Still, it raises some interesting questions, doesn’t it?
