USDA Invests Millions in Rural Wisconsin

Wisconsin is going all in on renewable energy thanks to a major new investment from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Here’s Five Fast Facts About Renewable Energy in Wisconsin:

  1. 🚜 What You Sow - Through its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), the USDA is giving $2.2M to 23 projects across the state.
  2. 🐄 Big Energy - REAP provides grants and loans to agricultural and small rural business owners to expand their use of wind, solar and other forms of clean energy. The programs help recipients increase their income and reduce energy cost.
  3. ☀️ Dry and Sunny - Projects receiving funds include mostly installation of solar arrays and energy efficient grain dryers.
  4. 🌞 Sticking Around - REAP has been in Wisconsin since 2021, investing more than $14.5M in 140 projects.
  5. 🌅 There’s More - Interested farmers and business owners can apply for REAP funding through Sept. 30 of this year.

🔥Bottom line: Regardless of how you feel about renewable energy, any help rural farmers can get is a good thing. REAP is clearly ready to invest to make sure people who often feel forgotten aren’t being left behind.
