What Are the Best Paying Jobs Of 2023 (so far)?

We love talking jobs here! Well, it’s mostly about the Paychecks those jobs bring, but you gotta’ do something to earn that cash, right? One of the things we like to look at from time to time is which jobs are the best (or worst) from certain points of view, and in this article we’re looking at median salary. Money isn’t everything, but it sure is important!

US News put out a report of the 25 best paying jobs for 2023 based on median salary and some other factors, so that’s what we’ll use this time.

Here are Five Fast Facts on the best paying jobs in the country:

  1. ❤️‍🩹 Medical Domination - It’s probably not surprising, but 9 of the top 10 are in health care, with 8 of those being medical doctors. The median salary ranges from $170-208k, and projections suggest most of these will have from a few hundred to as many as 20k job openings in the future. The more specialized you get, the fewer job openings there will be. The two non-doctors in the bunch are psychiatrist (also $208k) and nurse anesthetist ($196k). We’re perfectly fine with all of these folks making truckloads of money - we want them to be VERY good at their jobs!
  1. 🧑‍✈️ Flying High - The only non-medical professional to land in the top 10 (at spot #10 on the list) is pilot. The median salary is $135k and there will be a few thousand job openings here. And they even get cool uniforms, too!
  1. 💻 Tech Titans - Three tech-related jobs hit the list. IT Manager came in at #12 ($159k), software developer was #23 ($121k), and computer network architect landed at #24 ($121k). The first two have lots of opportunity, with hundreds of thousands of jobs projected. If you’re looking for a “common” job that’s readily available, this is your winner!
  1. 💲 Show Me The Money - Financial jobs also made a strong showing on the list, with four entries: Financial Manager at #14 ($132k), Marketing Manager at #15 (135k), Sales Manager at #19 ($127k), and Actuary at #22 ($106k). And with almost 200,000 jobs projected across all of these, you’ve got good odds to get into this field. There’s big money in big money!
  1. 🏆 The Winner - And finally, we have the #1 entry on the list: Anesthesiologist. With a median salary of $208k and only 400 job openings projected, it’s a pretty exclusive club to get into. But, if you can swing this job, you should be making some serious bank.

🔥Bottom line: Money isn’t the most important factor in a job, certainly not for everyone. But, it is important in most job decisions because, well, life is expensive! The key is to find the right balance between something you love and something that pays. If you can find that, life is good.
