What Washington State Voters Want

Wouldn't it be great if lawmakers were able to somehow learn what was most important to the voters they represent? Funny thing - most people will tell you if you just ask them! A new poll did just that, and the results are highly obvious on most important issues. Let's see what your fellow Washingtonians said!

Here are Five Fast Facts on what Washington State voters want:

  1. 🤦 It's The Economy, Stupid - The old saying rings true here, too, with the highest percentage of voters (32%) saying the economy was the most important thing. Duh. When is it ever not?
  1. 🥊 Fighting Words - A close second priority was lowering taxes (31%). BUT, to the irresponsibly tax-happy lawmakers in Olympia, those are fightin' words!
  1. 💳 Excessive Spending - A huge chunk of voters (62% vs. 5%) think lawmakers should spend less rather than raise taxes. Put the state credit card down, all you government shopaholics!
  1. 🏫 Other Stuff - The vast majority of voters (84%) also want reforms on public schools to increase transparency on spending and outcomes. No thanks, mystery math.
  1. 🤔 Rethinking Life Choices - All of this makes 52% believe the state's headed in the wrong direction, and a troubling 43% say lawmaker decisions have forced them to consider leaving the state. Turns out striving for "California North" isn't such a great policy, huh?

🔥Bottom line: Voters in Washington aren’t thinking about fancy political stuff - they’re focused on real, everyday issues like jobs, saving money, lowering taxes, and making sure schools are telling the truth about their spending and results. Now, if we could just get Olympia to pay attention instead of doing weird budget gymnastics and financial sleight-of-hand…
