You’re Hired!

“No OnE wANtS tO woRK AnyMOre.” I still hear that a lot. But that’s the furthest thing from the truth in Wisconsin, where unemployment has hit a record low four months in a row!

Here’s Five Fast Facts on Wisconsin’s Record Unemployment:

1. 📉 How Low Is It? - It’s so low that it needs a stepladder to scratch a rattlesnake’s belly. Bad vaudeville jokes aside, it’s sitting at a stunning 2.5%. 
2. 🏟️ Stadium Seating - There are now 76,600 unemployed Wisconsinites, according to the DWD. You could fit them all into Lambeau and STILL have room.
3. 🏗️ How is this Possible? - The DWD and some state Democrats are saying the workforce support programs Gov. Evers put into play in 2021 is one of the drivers behind this trend.
4. ⚕️ Help REALLY Wanted - Sectors that added the most jobs included healthcare with 11,800 new employees, and accommodation and food services with 9,100 new hires.
5. ✂️ Results - State Republican lawmakers are using this as a chance to cut unemployment and Medicaid benefits.

🔥Bottom line: There are still job openings in the state, and if employers want them filled they’re going to need to step up. That may come in the form of benefits or even looking at their workplace culture to make adjustments. They need to change something and do it fast, or those job postings will remain open for a long while.
