Columbus Is Seeing Great Success...But What About The Rest of OH?

Business is booming in Columbus. But it's been hard for employers to find jobs. Harder than it is to find a genuine Jean-Claude Van Damme fan. (Is he still alive?)

To attract new peeps to the state and to keep the next generation of workers from heading to the coasts, many say the economy needs to grow more equally across the other big cities.

Here’s Five Fast Facts about Ohio's economic development:

  1. 💾 And A Bag of Chips - Microchip giant Intel has been creating quite a buzz in the Columbus region. They're currently working on building a huge manufacturing facility and employee campus.
  2. 🚘 Beep Beep - Ford's expanding its Avon Lake plant to produce electric commercial vehicles. But they're also thinking about keeping things close to Columbus.
  3. 🥑 Save The Millenials - Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus are all listed as top cities for Millennials. But to keep them, critics say the economy needs to develop more equally across all Ohio cities.
  4. 🍑 Sucking Up - Part of the problem is the political red tape out-of-state investors need to cut through to start a business in OH. The northeast part of the state has more butts to kiss, but Columbus is a bit more wild west, making it easier to set up shop.
  5. ⤵️ Below Average - In 2021, the average income in Ohio was only 89% of the national average. 1969 was the last time this figure was at 100%.

🔥Bottom line: The economy has been hit hard nationwide these last couple of years and Ohio isn't immune. However, it seems as though new startups are pledging to stick around for the long haul, which is great news! Our Spidey Senses feel a big economic comeback for the Buckeye State.
